My name is Zyas van der Maat, currently 21 years old and living in the Netherlands. From a young age, I have had a strong passion for reptiles and amphibians in the wild, which has only grown over the years.

Since 2020, I have been affiliated with RAVON (Reptile, Amphibian and Fish Conservation Netherlands), for which I have carried out a significant amount of voluntary fieldwork across the Netherlands. This has formed the foundation of my current knowledge and experience within the field.

From 2022 onwards, I also became actively involved in traveling, which has greatly expanded my knowledge of species outside the Netherlands and continues to do so every day.

In 2024, I created this website to document my adventurous stories and photographs and to share them with other enthusiasts within the field. After a short break, I resumed this in 2026.
